Fotopedia now on iPhone and iPad with Heritage

We are proud to present you Fotopedia Heritage. This iPad and iPhone application is the result of great collaboration: it brings together 20 000 amazing photos from the encyclopedia, illustrating all World Heritage Sites and 3 000 points of interest among them. You can download it for free and enjoy a beautiful and endless visual journey.

The UNESCO World Heritage Center cooperated in Fotopedia Heritage by giving us access to official descriptions of the World Heritage Sites. The application even got to the ears of their director, Francesco Bandarin who said: "Fotopedia Heritage offers a beautiful way to navigate and discover World Heritage sites. This application helps raise awareness about our cause and encourages everyone to ensure our world's heritage is here for the next generation."

Fotopedia Heritage is built on top of the World Heritage Sites project. We put the project on iPad and iPhone, which allows for great navigation, and gave it a spin. The navigation is built upon the project's structure. The photos you added to the articles are all there and displayed depending on their score. The application is updated with any changes that are made to the articles in the project. Wikipedia articles are there, as well as a map view. The components are practically the same, but the experience is totally new.

Fotopedia now has over half a million great photos and the number keeps growing. We keep thinking about what a 21st century photo encyclopedia should be like and how to bring your photos to life. Fotopedia Heritage is one answer. It is a new generation coffee table book, with more photos than a book could hold and a much nicer navigation. It reuses all the work we are doing on the encyclopedia to inspire travelers looking to choose their next destination, and to protect World Heritage Sites. We look forward to building more great ways to experience Fotopedia and your photos.

Enough words! Download Fotopedia Heritage and share this great collaborative work with your friends.
