Every year, and during a week, people from all over the US (and the world) are gathering in the Black Rock Desert region in Nevada the week before Labor Day for Burning Man, an annual arts fest. You can read more about the origin of this event on the Wikipedia article.
This year, it starts on August 29, with around 50 000 participants planting their tents, yurts and other creative constructions in the desert sand.
